PADI Side-Mount Specialty
Ever been on a dive rib and had to get your buddy to help you kit up? Ever watched twin-set divers struggle to get their equipment on the boat? Well the future is here!!

Side-mount diving was originally developed for cave diving in the 1960's giving divers the chance to enter ever smaller caves, PADI has now been able to bring you this amazing course as a distinctive specialty with Wavecrest Scuba being the only school in Cornwall and one of only a handful of schools in the UK to be able to teach it.
Side-mount diving is revolutionary but not new, having been around for many years it is going to take time for the mere mortal recreational divers to see the full benefits.
This is also a perfect system for the ladies, as the weight is more evenly distributed, and smaller tanks i.e 2 x 7 ltr or 10 ltr can be used.
The equipment we recommend for this course would be the Hollis SMS100 side-mount harness which can be purchased from us, although some wings can be modified. If you are already a twin-mount diver a simple modification can allow you to try this amazing system. Instead of diving with a spare-air pony bottle you have 2 completely seperate life support systems making for more comfortable and safer diving.

PADI DSAT TEC-REC organisation has endorsed side-mount, meaning all TEC-REC courses can be taken using side-mount.
You will learn new skills like shut down drills and gas switching, hover and tank trim adjustment over the course of 2 days and 4 dives, come and have the most amazing fun and never go back to a rear tank again.
